The Great Pottery Throw Down 2023 episode 7: The six remaining potters discover their wild sides, as they create metallic-effect endangered animal sculptures fired in oil drums, before judges Keith and Rich set a surprise second challenge to throw a tall, thin-necked vase. Who will beast their way to the quarter-final, and who will be heading home?
Just like Bake Off’s Tent of Dreams in the latter stages, the Stoke studio is looking more gappy, with just six potters remaining in the competition. And now they’re encouraged to tap into their wild sides by sculpting endangered animals, which are then fired in oil drums – before they’re faced with another potential banana-skin: to throw a tall, thin-necked vase.Otherwise, expect cheering, Sunday-night business as usual. Judges Keith and Rich will dovetail with their encouragement and evaluation; a mod-heavy soundtrack will help to raise the temperature; and Siobhán McSweeney will no doubt do her best to conjure more tumbleweeds with her majestically tortured puns.
