Love Your Wild Garden: Special

Image
In a special episode of Love Your Garden, Alan Titchmarsh and his team transform a blank outside space at Keech hospice in Luton into a state of the art wildlife garden.  Alan meets the staff and residents at Keech, a place where many people with life limiting illnesses go to spend their final days. He realizes how much a garden, and in particular a place for nature, could make a difference.  Assembling his trusty team, he designs a space that's modern in style to compliment Keech's modern architecture. They build insect hotels made from giant circular steel gabions that are filled with organic matter, a "bird city" made up of freestanding tables, a pond, a stunning stumpery and an apartment block for solitary bees.  Installing cameras that are linked to a room inside the hospice, Alan and his team check the progress of the garden over the year but not all goes to plan, especially when a local set of badgers move in.
