The Queens Garden

Image
With permission from Her Majesty the Queen, this documentary reveals a year in Buckingham Palace Gardens, exploring the history and the natural history of this remarkable hidden royal treasure in the center of London. This film uncovers a wonderland with a five century history, an urban oasis of wildlife where the Queen has lived with her family and a ‘living museum’ where almost every plant (and many of the animals!) have a royal story to tell. With unprecedented access we will follow the garden’s transformation across all four seasons uncovering rare flowers specially bred for the Queen, extraordinary wildlife captured using hidden cameras, a vast lake with an island in the middle where the royal bees make honey, and a giant 15 feet marble urn that once belonged to Napoleon, to name but a few of the treats in store. The Queens Garden   Using cutting-edge natural history film-making methods, this film explores and captures the garden from every angle to offer viewers a rare,

The tomatoes in the growbags were looking the best and also have the best crops. Surprisingly the plants in the self-watering systems were suffering the most, with the leaves rolled and yellowing and growth stunted. The system with a growbag placed on a wicked reservoir system was full to the top and the compost waterlogged. This post was moved here :   https://video-clump.com/2017/12/12/ beechgrove-garden-episode-16-2015 /  ‎ The plants in the Autopot system were looking a bit better, but the fruit is not ripening in these pots either.Jim also talked about a letter that we have received about the use of the ‘expensive’ watering systems. Jim explained that our aim is always to try the systems and recommend those which work well. Using self-watering systems also means that you can go away on holiday without worrying about the plants. These systems can last 10 years or more if looked after properly, so they can be a worthwhile investment. Featured varieties: Tomato ‘Sungold’ To

Hidcote A Garden for All Seasons

Image
Documentary telling the story of Hidcote - the most influential English garden of the 20th century - and Lawrence Johnston, the enigmatic genius behind it. Hidcote was the first garden ever taken on by theNational Trust, who spent 3.5 million pounds in a major programme of restoration. This included researching Johnston's original vision, which in turn uncovered the compelling story of how Johnston created such an iconic garden.   Until recently, little was known about the secretive and self-taught Johnston. He kept few, if any, records on Hidcote's construction, but current head gardener Glyn Jones made it a personal mission to discover as much about the man as possible to reveal how, in the early 20th century, Johnston set about creating a garden that has inspired designers all over the world. One of the country’s great gardens, Hidcote is an Arts and Crafts masterpiece in the north Cotswolds, a stone’s throw from Stratford-upon-Avon. Created by the talented American h

The Beechgrove Garden ep.3 2016

In this edition of the gardening magazine, Jim investigates digging. He grows two sets of vegetables side by side to compare how digging affects them. Brian Cunningham, head gardener of Scone Palace, is redesigning the alpine garden at Beechgrove, while George takes a tour of 19th-century Braco Castle garden with head gardener Jodie Simpson. Carole was on a mission to save the Mahonia in the calendar border from being pruned by George (after recent week’s pruning frenzy). As George pointed out however, it was flowering right at the top of the plant, so could be encouraged to flower lower down by giving it a prune.   At Beechgrove Jim is always on the look-out for a ploy to trick Mother Nature to extend the growing season. The soil in the main veg plot is too cold and wet to sow seeds or plant into at the moment so Jim wanted to gain some time by planting onions sets (variety ‘Sturon’) into pots. This means that whilst the ground is warming up outside, the onion setts will hav

Prajitura Poloneza (prajtura cu nuca si gem)

Image
